Reflection means a thought, idea or opinion formed or observation made as a result of meditation. This article is a reflection from a book I read called "From Here We Know" written by Muhammad al-Ghazzali. He graduated from Al-Azhar University. Furthermore, he wrote more than sixty books and many have been translated into other languages. Basically, this book is written by Shaykh to answer or clear the minds of Muslims who seemed confused due to the controversies that arose since the first edition, written by Khalid Muhammad Khalid. In the first edition (From Here We Start), the author openly tries to separate Islam from the real lives of people. So, Shaykh Muhammad al-Ghazzali wrote this book to dispel doubts and present Islam clearly. To be honest, I don't like reading, especially English books. There doesn't seem to be anyone forcing me to read. So, when the teacher asked us to read a book, I think this was my chance to finally read one, in English. Even though I was reluctant at first, I then open my heart and say that this is the time I should start reading, not only for myself, but also for my religion. If I get something beneficial, I could spread it around the world. In the book, the author states that in addition to foreign power, domestic imperialism has also contributed to the corruption of religion, especially Islam. I have no doubts but I agree with the author. From what I can see from today's world, people of my religion who ultimately don't have enough knowledge about religion seem to get carried away by especially Western character or life practices. The two factors mentioned above have sought to raise and cultivate a generation of Muslim men... middle of paper... in Islamic countries. They tend to ignore Islamic principles but apply Western ones or principles that derive from rational thought. Why don't they implement or at least spread Islamic principles in Islamic countries? It is obvious that the principles come from Allah where it is stated in the Holy Book. It is not harmful but good. I think this is one of the things the government should pay attention to. In conclusion, to be honest, this book taught me a lot of new things that I didn't know before. Yes, it's because I don't read. I learned new information and know so much more. I would like to sincerely thank my lecturer, Dr. Yousuf Rahath House, for making me read. Who knows, I may acquire so much knowledge in a short time. Thank you, Doctor Plus, InsyaAllah, I will try my best to read more, Malay or English Islamic books in the future.
