Topic > Leadership practices contribute to the management…

In this essay I will discuss how leadership practices contribute to the management of communication in the post-bureaucratic era. This essay will discuss the effectiveness of leadership approaches in the post bureaucratic era in managing communication in organizations. In section 1 I will discuss leadership in terms of communication drawing on the article by Barry B. (2007). Furthermore, I will also discuss the use of communication in managing an organization the way the leader desires (Jack, G., 2004) and the need for a contingency approach (Browning, 2007, p. 190) when communicating with employees . In Section 2, I discuss how management stimulates employee loyalty through embedding organizational identity (Gagne, J.F., Josserand. & Clegg, 2012) and overwhelms hosts to gain the spotlight (Klein, 2000). In section 3 I will illustrate examples of the positive impacts of effective communication by organizational leaders drawing on the writings of Koremenos (2005). In section 4, I will illustrate how leaders use their communication skills in dealing with organizational trauma (Dutton, J.E., Frost, P., Worline, M.C., Lilius, J.M. & Kanov, J.M., 2002) and conflict in meetings (Holmes & Marra , 2004). Rather than leave it there, in conclusion, I will question the effectiveness of leadership in managing communication and the significance of approaches such as virtuosity (Cameron, 2011) for better organizational functioning. Furthermore, I will question the presence of free speech in the context of the post-bureaucratic era and its impact on communication management. Communication is often believed to be the primary key to leadership success. According to Jack, G.
