Intervention Design Addiction is dependent on something to the point that you have to use the substance or practice the habit to feel normal. Compulsive behavior is what you do compulsorily, not because you want it, but because it is necessary. These two conditions are not controllable by infected people, therefore they force people to engage in behaviors even if involuntary. An addicted person and a person with compulsive behaviors will not feel normal until they abandon those habits (Grohsman, 2011). Most addictions and compulsive behaviors are negative and harm those infected, thus driving most of them to try to stop. A percentage of drug addicts are able to quit their habits, but others are unable to due to high levels of addiction. Those who succeed go through processes of counseling, therapy and medical treatments depending on the condition. Addiction and compulsive behaviors have been present in society for a long period of time, so they have played an important role in changing society, both in historical and contemporary society. The Role of Addictive and Compulsive Behaviors in Society Many of the people who suffer from addiction and compulsive behaviors engage in crime, behavioral changes, and financial secrecy in order to obtain money for their behaviors. This forces them into debt which leads to the sale of personal assets. As a result they become a nuisance to their families and society due to their inappropriate lifestyle. As an intervention project, they should receive love from the people around them and take them to collection centers for rehabilitation (Enabled Mission, 2011).
