It's amazing how two stories can be so similar yet so different even when it comes to marriage and gender roles. These particular literary works involve creative writing between the two stories referenced would be The Necklace and Country Lovers. Both of these stories are set in different locations and make readers wonder what the end result will be. “And just thinking about writing literature that focuses on this topic is really fascinating and attracts the attention of all readers, especially those who are aware of American history and the heightened racial tension between African Americans and Caucasians in the South” ( Mode Study). Country Lovers is a story based on the forbidden love between an African-American woman named Thebedi and a Caucasian male named Paulus. Paulus is the son of the owner of the farm where Thebeti and her family worked. While The Necklace is the story of a bourgeois couple whose wife dreams of becoming rich. Even though writers are interested in different topics, they focus more on content, form, and style because they engage the reader's thoughts on their article. In the Necklace of Guy de Maupassant the husband "Monsieur Loisel is content with the small pleasures of his life, but does his best to appease Mathilde's requests and allay her complaints" (Spark Notes). In any case, Monsieur will do anything or try to do anything to make his wife happy. Mathilde, the protagonist, is a gorgeous woman with beautiful looks who feels the need to be rich, so she keeps dreaming of what her life as a rich woman would be like. Although she was not rich, but middle class, she had a rich friend from whom she kept herself away for the simple fact that she was not so lucky... halfway... question of circumstances whether the child was mixed with different races or not .
