NASA's Shuttle Program, also known as the Space Transportation System, was the first manned winged spacecraft operation to reach orbit and landing, also the first to use reusable spacecraft and make multiple flights in various orbits. Although the Shuttle program took America to the next level in orbital transportation, the program's recent shutdown has disconcerted many Americans and left questions about the future of American space missions. The Obama administration's termination of the program is a short-term allocation of government funds that should be better understood as a strategic move to improve the future stability of the American economy. The budget cuts are part of the balanced budget that will recover the current economic situation in America, the cuts can also be described as the position with which the government has brought programs to reorganize its agendas again and manage the institutions better. NASA is proud of the Shuttle Program's 30 milestone years of accomplishments, goals and innovation in the prosperous future of space travel; it is also compromised to continue completing the agenda with current missions. NASA's Space Shuttle program or Space Transportation System (STS) was developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, a federal executive branch. NASA coordinated and managed the STS program and also oversaw all spaceflight requirements for both civilian and commercial uses. Its missions involved carrying large payloads to various orbits, rotating crew around the International Space Station, and performing service missions, such as upgrading all technical hardware and software. The program began in the late 1960s, when NASA began its first studies on the Shuttle program. . ...... middle of paper ...... nd Web. August 2, 2011. Garber, Steve. "History of the Space Shuttle."
