The pyramid is a structure that usually has a four-cornered base that turns into a triangular point. There are three major solitary structured pyramids in Giza, which is located on the edge of the Sahara Desert, however there are over seventy pyramids in Egypt. Furthermore, these pyramids were not only built as stand-alone structures, but were also part of the entire pyramid complex. This essay focuses on two different types of pyramids which are the "Red Pyramid of Snofrus" and the "Step Pyramid". This essay will go further and investigate the meaning of these forms for this culture, also to understand the dialogue with the cosmos. The early Egyptian pyramid shape was first used in ancient Mesopotamia with mud and brick structures called Ziggurats. Subsequently it was also used by the Greeks and Romans. The pyramids were built as a tomb for the pharaoh. The pyramid was believed to be the place where the pharaoh's spirit could ascend. Furthermore, it was believed that the highest point of the pyramid was the door to which the soul could travel after life and also if it was chosen to return to earth. They also believed that when people die, they take everything with them, so everything belonging to the deceased was placed in the tomb largely constructed by death, so that he or she could take his or her belongings into the afterlife. These tombs were built to align with certain stars and planets. Mastaba and step pyramidThe first prototype pyramid was the Mastaba. Mastaba is known as an "eternal house" and was the first prototype tomb built in Egypt. This tomb is an underground monument covered by a flat-roofed structure...... in the center of paper...... The chamber runs directly beneath the center of the pyramid. It is the only pyramid in Egypt to have a plan running through the center of the structure. The passage leading to the final chamber originates from the second chamber and can be accessed via a modern staircase; this passage was about 8 meters high above the second chamber. This final chamber is believed to be the true burial chamber. This room is higher than the rest of the rooms. These significant architectural structures have become the most important influential figures in history with its mysterious work and effort that has been put into place. These pyramids began as mastabas to serve a tomb purpose, then society witnessed its transformation into a pyramid over time, creating a significant piece of architecture.
