Do the risks of e-commerce outweigh its benefits? E-commerce is one of the most important features of the Internet that have emerged in recent times. Electronic commerce or e-commerce is the buying and selling of products or services via electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks. E-commerce is growing at an exponential rate. Any aspect that reduces the risk associated with online shopping can therefore be expected to have an effect on the development of e-commerce. Risk has often been identified as one of the most daunting causes for people participating in electronic commerce, regarding transactions in which financial and personal information is sent to merchants over the Internet. According to a national survey of 1,220 Internet users conducted by PIP, only 28% purchased Christmas gifts online, which extends to approximately 30 million consumers (Wang and Emuria, 2004). However, e-commerce helps the organization to provide better services to the customers. The developed countries of the world have adopted e-commerce as one of the major sources of economic growth in the country. In 2009, according to the survey conducted by China E-commerce Association and Alibaba Company for a national online case investigation, 59% of respondents thought that honesty was an activity, and 80 % of respondents thought that the success of online trading mainly depended on credit (Shandan, Dan, Yunyun, & Yoghai, 2012). Furthermore, the number of product purchases online has gradually increased since 2000, and 66% of respondents have made at least one purchase online. An even higher percentage (93%) used the Internet to search for information on the products that the user is thinking of purchasing and also the related e-commerce... in the middle of paper... and in the e-commerce market. Companies are becoming increasingly innovative in learning how to secure financing and infrastructure to support e-business strategy (Damanpour, 2001). In conclusion, this study argued that e-commerce has more benefits than risks in the business market. Research has been carried out and found evidence to take a stand to explain the effect of e-commerce development in different parts of the world. Adopting e-commerce has become one of the business strategies in recent times. Companies in the later stages of e-commerce adoption are expected to sell more products and services than before. Furthermore, the study also shows that people have started using e-commerce effectively over the years and illustrated its efficiency. (1019 words)
