This shows that nowadays people tend to rely on those vitamin supplements that they believe are good for their health. According to the dictionary, supplement is defined as something that is added to complete something, make up for a deficiency, or strengthen or extend a whole. This simply means that people consume vitamin supplements to improve their health conditions. However, taking excessive amounts of vitamin supplements has negative effects on your health. Some of the negative effects of taking too many vitamin supplements include the appearance of unusual conditions, increased risk of contracting diseases, and having excess minerals in the body. The first negative effect of taking too many vitamin supplements is that they caused unusual conditions. Taking too many vitamins has caused adverse effects. For example, vitamin C is popular for treating the flu. However, excessive consumption of vitamin C has caused unusual conditions such as gastrointestinal irritation. This leads to diarrhea or vomiting, which then causes dehydration. Furthermore, excessive consumption of vitamin C also causes kidney stones. This is due to the breakdown of vitamin C into oxalate in our body. Too much oxalate in our body has caused some of it to turn into kidney stones. Taking excessive amounts of vitamin C can also worsen hemochromatosis conditions. Hemochromatosis is an inherited condition in which the body accumulates excessive amounts of iron.
