People are misunderstood all over the world. We have all been misunderstood in one way or another. The purpose of my choice to explore why people are misunderstood is that I want to find the root cause of why people are misunderstood and discover ways to begin to understand others. Wrong accusations, invariable judgments, and even death are the effect of being misunderstood, and the world would be a better place if the human race began to understand each other. To find my information, I used my old textbook "Choosing Health" from my health book Concepts and Strategies course that I took last year at Palm Beach State College. The “Relationships and Communication” section provided a lot of information on how to use communication to help relationships. I also read “The Green Mile”. This book is a great example of someone being misunderstood. John Coffey, the main character, is a big African American who is wrongly accused of killing twin girls and has to suffer the consequences of the death penalty. I learned about Criss Jami, the lead singer of Venus in Arms, who studied philosophy in college and read his unique and intellectual writings. He has written many books that contain countless insightful thoughts. I also read some simple but meaningful lines by Richard Bach in his book “Jonathan Livingston Seagull”, a book whose theme is that we should all strive to achieve our greatest goals and overcome the boundaries that limit us. Finally, I researched what others thought was necessary to be understood and how to better understand from others. We, as human beings, continually perceive that our thoughts and opinions are the correct ones. Humans have a self-importance that rises to a higher level than the people around… middle of the paper… essentially it was my fault. Now I know how to rekindle my relationships with others and arguments and misunderstandings will start to happen less often for me. A new question that came to me is: how many battles and how much damage to the world could have been avoided if human beings had been able to communicate more effectively. The answers could be countless, but it would be very interesting to see what major scenarios occurred based on a simple misunderstanding.
