Genders differ in language useThe purpose of the study, including the specific research question studied:Language learning strategies (LLS) are the activities or actions that students undertake to receive, effectively store, retrieve and use the information obtained. Students take such actions to facilitate faster and easier learning and to make learning more enjoyable and effective (Mahamod et al., 2009). According to Mahamod et al. (2009), gender results in differences in language learning strategies with studies showing that females are better at using language learning strategies than males. However, there are divergent views where some studies indicate that there is no difference in the use of language learning strategies between genders. Furthermore, other studies, according to Mahamod et al. (2009), indicate a greater use of language learning strategies by males than females. The purpose of this study was to determine whether gender differences exist in the use of language learning strategies. This would therefore clarify the existing dilemma regarding the use of language learning strategies by men and women. The research study aimed to answer various questions in an attempt to identify whether differences exist in the use of language learning strategies between genders. First, the study attempted to research whether there was any difference in the use of overall language learning strategies between men and women. Arab students. Second, the research study attempted to answer the question of whether Arab male and female students represented any differences in the use of seven categories of language learning strategies. These seven categories of language learning strategies include memory st… middle of the paper… provided authentic perspectives. Furthermore, if the students did not understand what language learning strategies were, they would not be able to express the correct opinions. Now that there are differences in the use of language learning strategies between male and female students, it is important to know the causes of the differences. This is especially important so that language teachers can know how to promote the use of language learning strategies among their students so that they can become effective learners.
