George Lois (1931-) is a writer, art director, graphic designer and advertising legend. Lois is historically significant due to her memorable, historic and risk-taking projects in the form of magazine covers exhibited at MOMA and advertising campaigns for top brands that put companies front and center. During the 1960s through the covers of Esquire magazine, at that time everywhere the world was changing. Using covers, George Lois displayed messages that made the public feel the need to speak out against issues such as racism, feminism, and the Vietnam War. It created impact, attracting readers' attention to pick up magazines that featured questionable images. Lois told Insight: Essentials that it “has become an important part not to reflect the culture but to help drive the culture.” The magazines showed the history of this era as the world was changing.
