One day, Humphrey the mouse, emerged from his nest inside the little willow tree. He found himself tied around the neck by Freddy the cat. Humphrey begged Freddy to let him go, and Freddy finally let him go since he had just had a big meal. Weeks passed and Freddy found himself trapped in a net that his owner had left outside. His owners would not return for some time, so Freddy remained there until he was released. But then Humphrey comes out of his tree to see Freddy in need of help, he immediately starts gnawing on the net, which then frees Freddy. I know you're wondering what the point of this story is. Well, the moral of the story is that there are times when you have to decide when to do the right thing despite what you want to do. This article will explore some issues of ethics in the nursing field, the consequences of poor judgment when it comes to nursing, and compare Florida's Nurse Practice Act and that of another state.1. What is the ethical responsibility of a nurse? Let's start by defining ethics. Webster defines ethics as “the discipline concerned with what is good and bad and with moral duty and obligation” (Webster, 2011). In life we encounter situations where we must make ethical decisions to resemble what society expects of us. One must take responsibility for one's mistakes, but society should not blame that individual if he was not taught morals and ethics by his parents. Society should take into consideration that it is not the child's fault that his parents did not teach him to live a good life.
