Globalization is the increasing unification of regional economies, societies and cultures through communication, transportation and trade. It is primarily driven by a combination of economic, technological, socio-cultural, biological and political factors. It can also be called the transitory circulation of popular ideas, languages, or cultures through acculturation. The researchers argued that globalization began as early as the beginning of trade links between the Sumerian and Indus Valley civilizations in the third millennium. But the biggest impact was felt in the 1990s due to the growth of low-cost communication networks that allowed people in different parts of the world to integrate through communication. In the recent past, globalization has been further enhanced by communication through the Internet and the advancement of technology. This has caused the world to become like a small village because people from distant countries can come together easily (Valley Silicon, 2010). The group of people most affected by globalization are young people from all corners of the world. This is mainly due to the fact that young people between the ages of 18 and 24 are the most active Internet users. As a result they are able to interact and relate to people who are all over the world. This makes them feel connected to the world and more empowered. Among the young people affected by globalization are the young people of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad and Islam. It was founded in 1932 by King Abd-al-Aziz and practices a strict interpretation of Sunni Islam. The country has been ruled as an absolute monarchy by the descendant of King Abd-al-Aziz since his death in 1953. The country's laws have... middle of paper... made it inevitable for the Saudi Arabian government you accept the positive aspects of globalization. These have had several effects on young people especially because they are in a better position to understand modern technologies. Thus young people in Saudi Arabia have been affected both positively and negatively by globalization (Gidley, 2001). Reference list Bianchi, (2006). The impact of globalization on the Muslim world.
