IntroductionNewspapers and magazines have changed significantly since the late 1990s and continue to change due to rapid developments in technology. The conversion of newspapers to online, instant access to news and magazines online represent considerable changes in the print media industry thanks to technological advances that have occurred since the late 1990s. News content can now be streamed to any technological device, so news can now be transported and checked at any time and anywhere in the world instantly. Online news is becoming a more convenient replacement for the old newspaper due to the convenience of holding a small mobile device to search for news compared to holding a large newspaper. Online magazines provide an eco-friendly solution to the paper magazine and are easily downloadable via a website or app store. These major changes to print media since the late 1990s have changed the way news companies produce and distribute their information to the world. But all this is changing, with current technological developments over the past decade, reading the news is now as simple as clicking on the Internet tab. The most notable developments of this change occurred on 18 June 2012 when Fairfax Media CEO Greg Haywood announced the closure of two of their printing plants which evidently cost over 1900 jobs across the two plants ... middle of paper.... ...various applications available on iTunes. Since the late 1990s print media has changed considerably in terms of production and distribution and has achieved a simple and hassle-free alternative by converging online.Works CitedCunningham, S, Turnball S 2014,'The media and communications in Australia- 4th Edition ', published by Allen and Unwin NSW.S, Allen 2006, 'Online News: Journalism and the Internet', published by Open University Press, Maidenhead, England.A, Greenhill, G, Graham 2013, 'exploring interaction: synergies between print and online news', published by the University of Leeds and the University of Manchester.J, Pontin 2009, 'A Manifesto: newspapers and magazines will not vanish.
