Most of the time people fail to understand why people working in the forensic department are sometimes overcome with anxiety when they receive a serial killer case in their laboratory . These forensic scientists have these feelings because they know this could potentially help advance the technology. Over the years, serial killers have unpremeditatedly helped advance the criminal investigation process further by unintentionally leaving things behind for a forensic team to analyze. When the team finally solves these cases, they continually promote things like DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) analysis, fingerprinting techniques, and not to mention the investigation process itself. Countless serial killers have had abnormal childhoods; many people believe that this is where the catalyst of events begins. It is proven that more often than not, serial killers lived in a habitable house, had apathetic parents, or might have a different state of mind. That said, when hearing about mass murderers or serial killers, the first question that comes to a person's mind is, "What were they thinking?" For all we know, this could be the killer's norm. Notorious killers, such as Albert Fish and John Wayne Gacy, Jr. both came from broken families. “Fish was five years old when his father died and his mother placed him in an orphanage while she worked to support herself. The documents also describe young Fish as a troubled child who 'ran away every Saturday,' persistently wetting the bed until his 11th year” (Newton 76-77). In his case it was undoubtedly clear that there was a problem, but his caretakers were unaware of these problems. However, not all cases are the same. For example, Gacy's father, John Gacy, Sr.,...... middle of paper...... time when a suspect isn't sure what exactly is happening. In conclusion, there are many other things in the world that help contribute to the advancement of technology that no one really dedicates themselves to. Yet it affects so many people around the world; you would think we would pay more attention to details like this. Fortunately, we have forensic scientists all over the United States who dedicate their careers and lives to helping us with numerous things. How to find missing children, solve cold cases, and even catch serial killers and rapists; just to name a few.
