Using knowledge is critical to the day-to-day work of a project as large as the Mzansi shuttle. The Mzansi Shuttle project is a multinational project because different groups of people from different countries are involved, such as the Nigerians and South Africans who are part of the Dangote enterprise. International organizations have a high input and high production of information. The value of knowledge sharing has been recognized by most international and supranational knowledge bodies and as such they have established information and knowledge management programmes. Many organizations consider information management as part of their internal procedures and remain silent about the activities that can be expected from an undertaking such as the Mzansi shuttle project. Project tasks and activities should not be confused with deliverables, tasks and activities may change but the deliverable should remain the same. Using the work breakdown structure as a substitute for the project plan will hinder the achievement of project objectives.
