IntroductionIn this assignment, I will outline, define and analyze ethics and explore some ethical issues and how ethics are related to the nursing profession. What is ethics? Ethics is a system of moral principles that guide human action or a branch of philosophy that covers a whole family of things that have real importance in everyday life (BBC.co.uk) There are different forms of ethical issues, such as; Supernaturalism - This type of ethics is God-based, which means it depends on God. It teaches that the only source of moral rules is God and that something is good if God says so. Furthermore, the way to lead a good life is to do the will of God. Consequentialism - This type of ethics states that both right and wrong depend on the consequences of one's actions, and that the better the consequences, the better one's life . act. Situation Ethics - In situation ethics, right and wrong depend on the situation. Teach virtue ethics: This type of ethics emphasizes the role of a person's character and behavior. It is based more on the person than on the action. 2.1 - Key ethical and moral points common to all case studies Euthanasia is the end of the life of a very sick person to relieve them of their suffering. This ties in with the case of a man named Tony Nicklinson who had a stroke and left him with locked-in syndrome. He could do nothing for himself. Therefore, he was solely dependent on his caregivers and family for his care. He described his illness as a living nightmare. He couldn't speak, brush his teeth and couldn't even scratch his itch. He wanted to end his life through assisted suicide. He wanted a doctor to be able to take his life. He gave his consent to this but the law is against assisted collection...... the paper information......about them is shared with other healthcare professionals. Furthermore, nurses must ensure that they obtain patients' consent before initiating any treatment or care and must support patients' right to be fully involved in decisions regarding their care.
