Topic > A summary of the journey through the Amazon rainforest?

As Martin travels through the Amazon rainforest with his guide, the humidity makes his hands sweaty. Since the rainforest is on the equator, the heat and humidity cause his shirt to stick to his back like paper and glue. To Martin the forest seemed alive. In just 250 acres Pablo had shown him around 1,000 different types of plants in just half an acre. There were apparently over 6,000 types of plants in just 250 acres. Pablo also showed him the diversity of animals in the Amazon rainforest. He pointed out the different monkeys swinging from tree to tree causing the trees to shake. His guide Pablo shows Martin all the different species of snakes as they slither through the undergrowth. Then Pablo shows Martin his house. One of the few places where someone can do this is Peru. Located in South America, Peru has one of the most diverse life forms in the world. The Pacific Ocean borders this country to the west. It borders four other South American countries. To the north it borders Ecuador and Colombia. To the west is Brazil and borders Bolivia to the south. Lima, the capital of Peru, is one of the most populated cities in this country. It has approximately 8,180,000 residents in the city. Some might describe this city as noisy and crowded. This is because an increasing number of people are leaving farms and rural areas and moving to cities in search of greater opportunities. Nearly twice the size of Texas, Peru is the third largest country in South America. With an area in square miles of 496,225, this country is home to approximately 27,947,000 people. Many activities are an integral part of Peruvian culture. Music, dance and sports are some of the most popular activities. Radio stations here can play traditional mountain songs or the best songs from the United States. Traditional music usually talks about Peru, culture, feelings and animals. This type of music is played with unique instruments such as the charango, antara, quena, drums, rattles and small harps. The charango is like a small guitar, the antara is similar to many flutes strung together vertically, and the quena is comparable to the recorder. With this abundance of music the Peruvian people love to dance. Two dances originating from the mountains are the Huayno and the Baile de las Tijeras which means scissor dance. In fact, the music and dance are so popular that many cities have their own dances.
