The Indian banking sector plays an important role in the economic development of the country and is the most dominant segment of the financial sector. Banks encourage economic growth by allocating savings to investments that have the potential to produce higher returns. Banks safeguard your money and valuables and provide numerous services such as loans, credit and payment services such as checking accounts, money orders etc. Banks also offer investment and insurance products that were once banned. They perform their vital role of accepting deposits and lending funds from these deposits. Banks safely save depositors' money, provide them with interest, and lend the funds collected from depositors to consumers. They come in a wide range of sizes, from large global banks to regional and community banks. The strategic environment related to the Indian banking sector is as follows: Economic Factors The Indian economy recorded an impressive growth of over 9% for the next three financial years and experienced moderation in 2008-09. Bank lending to industries, personal loans and service sectors slowed, while bank lending to agriculture and related activities increased during 2008-2009. Both the income and expenditure of scheduled commercial banks slowed down which led to a decrease in net profit. It is true that the Reserve Bank of India has overseen the Indian banking sector and... at the central paper level... at the corporate level, 3 regional staff colleges, 8 zonal training centers and a comprehensive IT center in Faridabad. The training policy aims to provide training to all its employees at least once every 2 years. The current employee performance evaluation process at PNB is based on two factors: level of learning and results achieved. Organizational, operational and individual training needs are technically identified and a link is established between the three in order to have an effective training and development process. This project has been a wonderful experience, especially with the help of all those people, without whose assistance, the project would not have taken the shape it has.
