As Benjamin Franklin once said, "Words may show a man's wits, but deeds his meaning," that's what the America expects from President Obama. Many people believe that the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act (PPACA) violates the United States Constitution and should be eradicated. This law was implemented to help people acquire affordable health insurance; therefore, it is important for people suffering from pre-existing conditions, and the American government is addressing medicolegal and ethical issues such as elective abortion. President Obama's intention to provide affordable health insurance to all US citizens is a noble act. However, there are mixed reactions regarding this law from citizens, given that the information provided by the media is partial. There is much speculation regarding the cost of this act; However, the Affordable Care Act has saved millions of dollars this year, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Mr. Donald M. Berwick, MD, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, states that: “In the month of May alone, we saw a seventy-six percent increase in the number of beneficiaries receiving this discount (four hundred and seventy-eight thousand, two hundred and seventy-two individuals through the end of May compared to two hundred and seventy thousand nine hundred through the end of April). Additionally, the total savings received by these beneficiaries increased by more than fifty-six percent in one month, for an average total savings of five hundred and forty-five thousand dollars per beneficiary” (June 2011). , par. 3). This means that in such a short time this act is helping to reduce medical costs. In the long term, this law passed by President Obama will bring the principles of health and medical insurance to fruition... in the middle of the paper... and the principles of the Hyde Amendment.
