Topic > Importance of Organizational Design - 1344
Few unique characteristics of bureaucratic design are a clear division of labor, a formal organizational chart, reluctance to adapt, and a limited scope of control. Continued Centralized authority and top management have a great deal of control over decision making. Fast food restaurants like McDonalds or KFC are the best example of this type of organizational design. If we visit these food outlets we experience that everyone follows proper rules and procedures, wears the same uniform and has their standard menu for a long period of silence. Therefore the centralized authority allows them to serve many customers in a short period of time and their work is so predictable that they leave very little room for action.
