I have always been an existentialist and have always loved a multitude of options in my life. I believe there is no greater being that controls my life, rather I control my life; however, others may disagree with this idea. One knows one's duty and purpose in life and, therefore, one must perform it. From the moment of birth, life is already decided. Basically, what should I do, follow my heart and take responsibility for it, or follow what others have already established for me? This explains the conflicts between existentialism and determinism. These two ways of thinking clash with each other. They have two separate ideas about how humans should live. Even if they clash, I think in some cases; these two philosophies go very well with each other. In essence, will my choices make me happy? If not, then how should I live? Do we choose our destiny, existentialism, or does destiny choose it for us, determinism? In the film Mulan 2, Ting-Ting, Mei and Su are sent to marry Qui Gong's children to form an alliance so that China will be at war with the Mongols. The emperor asked Mulan, Shang, and three escorts to help the princesses get to Qui Gong safely and quickly. The princesses have never met the children before, but once they arrive they will have to marry them. Mulan, who recently got engaged to Shang, was troubled by the concept of an arranged marriage rather than marriage for love. However, during the journey, Mei had received advice from Mulan, "My duty is my heart", and later fell in love with one of the chaperones, Yao. Later the other two princesses also fell in love with the other two escorts. However, if they do not marry their children, then there will be no…half of paper…this life will happen countless times. amount of times and we can't do anything about it. Using reasoning rather than our emotions might also be a better way to choose. Determinism also allows people not to ruminate on every single decision they make; rather, it comes naturally to them. In conclusion, whether you choose existentialism or determinism, I think the most important thing and above all these questions are: do you know yourself? Before you dive into a philosophy and study it, before you can truly put it into practice, you need to know yourself. Overlying this dispute over free will and determinism is the fact that it is not possible to fully implement a philosophy without knowing oneself. All three philosophies I mentioned began with knowing yourself. Therefore, what is really important is that the only way to live a fulfilling and happy life is to know yourself.
