The creation and history of all technologies have helped society develop, in a political sense. Photography, a form of technology, has helped document significant moments in the past and present. In a political sense, the photograph was used as a symbol, which created an emotional response, or as propaganda. Furthermore, border security, created to aim to protect and preserve countries. In a political sense it aroused concerns due to the events of the time. The progress and development of technologies has had a direct correlation with political development, in areas such as border security and photography. This essay argues that from the beginning to the end of the 20th century, photography had an impact on both society and border security, which raised concerns during the period. By observing the exploration of these technologies, we can come to understand the impact they have in a political sense, within society. First, I will explore how photography was first used in the 20th century and subsequently how the use of photography developed over time. , influencing the way we use photography today. The photograph, created by Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre (1787–1851), was intended to be used as historical evidence, documenting living conditions, the relationship between individuals and historical moments of the time, and "documents life in great detail and with remarkable precision and certainty".
