Firewalls are not effective enough to protect devices because people can easily hack and they are bypassed by firewalls, so there should be something other than firewalls to protect devices. There are many factors that explain why a firewall is not an effective way to protect personal information. Every year new and more advanced technologies are produced and used and firewalls are out of date or missing many factors that do not keep up with these new and more advanced technologies that make it much easier for people to get past a firewall. For example, in Kyle Cebull's article "3 Reasons Why Your Enterprise Firewall or Router Isn't Effective Against Threats" he provides an example from the computer company Dell which states: "According to Dell, by the end of 2016, more of all Internet traffic will be encrypted. Even some network administrators do not realize that viruses and malware enter their network through encryption” (Cebull).
