While there are other concerns to consider when traveling abroad on business, terrorism and its many facets deserve special attention. Rittichainuwat and Chakraborty (2009) conducted research to see what many people perceive as a risk when traveling. The research focused on Thailand more than other locations, it is still plausible that the information found could be applied to any location. According to Rittichainuwat and Chakraborty (2009), “terrorism prefers the use of premeditated violence, or the threat of violence by organized groups against civilians or unarmed military personnel, in order to achieve political, religious, or ideological objectives.” It was found that despite low travel costs, the vast majority of respondents in this study “would not neglect personal safety,” which included both frequent travelers and first-time travelers (Rittichainuwat & Chakraborty, 2009). Dr. Rittichainuwat is an associate professor at Siam University, Thailand. He has written a book in over twenty-five professional journal articles and presentations. Furthermore, in 2004, Dr. Rittichainuwat won the best paper award at the second APacCHRIE conference and the sixth biennial conference on tourism in Asia. His partner, Dr. Chakraborty, earned his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. In 2003, Dr. Chakraborty became an associate professor of... middle of paper... a little prayer for God's blessing and protection during the journey. When I arrive at my destination, I pray for the room and place where I will live and work. Finally, when I returned home to the United States, I give praise and blessings to God for another safe trip. REFERENCES: Anonymous Bibliography. (2011).
