The story Animal Farm is definitely one of the best literary examples of how a society turns into tyranny. This particular work of art brings to light a problem that every society runs into, a problem that cannot be avoided. Of course, it is the problem of governance. George Orwell, living in very tumultuous and uncertain times, observed the tendency of some countries to move towards totalitarianism. And by writing Animal Farm, he wanted to show what societies would be like if this trend were taken too far. According to him, this leads to the absolute eradication of justice and the situation in which every citizen of such a society lives under severe oppression and total misery. He wrote his work using an allegorical literary device to warn humanity of the dangers that tyranny brought. Its main characters were anthropomorphic animals that represented some aspects of each society. At the beginning of the novella, the animals overthrow the greedy men from the ruling position. The reason for such drastic measures is that they became dissatisfied with the oppressive conditions that men had created for them. This action gave them the opportunity to create a society free of fear and pressure, but one where justice and equality thrive. However, their effort suffered a complete collapse. The creation of a just society, where everyone was equal, never came by being. It turned into tyranny, where every animal lived in conditions of scarcity and oppression. This happened because the leaders wanted to satisfy only their own desires, without thinking about the well-being of others. To achieve their goals they used their intelligence and creativity. They built a tyrannical society, first by telling lies, then by depriving other animals of a proper education and this made them incapable of thinking clearly and critically. Later the leaders made them afraid to rebel against them. They gained total control over their minds by altering history. These were the steps that transformed a society that was simply supposed to be tyranny.
