When I was asked what I believed to be the biggest challenge facing schools today, the first thoughts that came to mind were issues such as low pay, diversity in the classroom and changes in the curriculum. As I reflected further, I realized that these issues are microscopic compared to the problem schools face in trying to engage parents. I am a big believer in the phrase "education begins at home" and personally believe that a student's success, not only in the classroom but in life in general, truly depends on the support system they have around them.
