What is a hero? What's so special about a hero? A hero is a mortal with inhuman powers who does things that "normal" people cannot do. Most heroes usually come from the mythology of the Greeks and Romans from the 20th (20th) to the 1st (1st) century BC All heroes will experience an Odyssey or adventure(s) with romance, action, and sometimes a happy end. This leads to a story written in the nineteenth century (800) BC, called “The Odyssey”. The Odyssey is an epic poem written by Homer, a Greek poet who lived between the 19th and 17th centuries BC. The Odyssey is the story of a hero named Odysseus, who struggles to return home to his kingdom, Ithaca, and to his family (his wife Penelope and his son Telemachus). As he returns home, he feels it is necessary to see his future from Tiresias, a prophet from Thebes. Unfortunately, through the prophet's story, Odysseus is warned of suitors who seek to steal his family and kingdom. Eventually, she will arrive home and begin a killing spree among the suitors. But in order to reach home, what would he need to complete his long journey? He needs the traits of a hero, which are cunning and courage. Fortunately, Odysseus displays his strongest traits throughout his journey, which are his cunning tricks and wonderful acts of courage. Because of his great courage, he displays this trait in many of his trials. An example is when he risked his life to find his destiny from Tiresias, before returning home. For this to happen, he would need to fight the undead souls and eventually reach the prophet. “They came from everywhere and searched for the grave with rustling cries; and I got sick of fear. But I immediately gave the order to my officers to flatten those bronze cut sheep... in the middle of the paper... creating a drunken Cyclops at his woolly removal of the sheep. He is also cunning due to his wary mind to stay on the lotus eating island. Odysseus shows a tremendous amount of courage thanks to Circe's spells and saving his men on his journey during the sad, dark, and boring visit of the prophet of Thebes, Tiresias. Without the courage of a hero, Odysseus would have let all his men die and would not have returned home. What you should learn from all this is to stand up for what you want, stay brave in what you love, keep moving forward, even if it means getting kicked in the teeth. Only a true hero can survive events similar to Odysseus' adventure. No one can experience the adventure over and over again. What's so special about a hero? Everyone will have their own unique adventure. And no other hero will have the exact same. Works Cited The Odyssey - Homer
