Topic > God's Promises of Redemption in Jesus and the New Covenant

When we read and study the Bible, we are able to learn many different messages and themes. This article will discuss the fulfillment of God's promises of redemption in Jesus and the New Covenant as expressed in the teaching on the kingdom of God, God's choice of his people, Jesus' sacrificial death, and the visible expression of this in churches. of God is one of the themes common to both the Old and New Testaments. Because the New Testament is based on the literal meaning of the Old Testament message, understanding the Kingdom requires a thorough study of both Testaments. The Old Testament concept of the kingdom of God refers directly to the sovereignty of God in all ages. God began His kingdom program at creation, long before the establishment of an earthly Messianic kingdom. In the Old Testament the kingdom of God was promised to the leaders and people of Israel. God himself governed the people through a system of judges and priests. In the Old Testament, God's prophets told His people what to expect when the Kingdom came. Therefore, Israel remained waiting for a Messiah who would become king and then the kingdom of God would be a physical place on earth for Israel. All the prophecies of the Old Testament have come true or will come true. However, the kingdom that much of Israel hoped for did not materialize. The Jewish nation was not restored. Many prophecies prophesied of a future king, of the line of Israel's King David, known as the Messiah or Christ who would lead and rule the world. In Matthew 3:2 it says “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” and announced to the world that the time had finally come. The covenants of promise were about to be fulfilled. Jesus came for them and...... middle of paper...... eating food. I know I need to confess my anger to God and ask for His help in dealing with it. I need to keep praying, reading scriptures about anger as well as other scriptures, and seeking the Lord for the problem. I must realize that I am a new person in Christ and must love God more than temptation and sin. I must be devoted to Jesus before I go into ministry or anything else. The new identity in Christ means that we have become the righteousness of God. In conclusion, the kingdom of God, election by foreknowledge, and the messages of identity in Christ will be studied and discussed until the return of Jesus Christ. These messages must be treated carefully as Scripture. These three messages of the kingdom of God, election by foreknowledge, and identity in Christ are found throughout the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the biblical narrative as a whole..
