As great as the prospect of becoming a psychologist is, I feel there are many drawbacks that make this career not a good fit for me. The financial investment invested in obtaining the degrees needed to become a clinical psychologist outweighs the benefits or potential benefits of great pay further down the line. I would prefer a career that requires me less school while maximizing the benefits in terms of pay. Essentially, the amount of work required to become a clinical psychologist outweighs the benefits one would gain from working as one. In summary, a career as a clinical psychologist can be both rewarding and stressful, it is up to each individual seeking to enter the field to measure themselves and decide to pursue the long but potentially rewarding career in the clinical setting.
