INTRODUCTION According to Business Dictionary.com, leadership is defined as individuals who are the leaders of an organization, considered collectively. It can also be defined as the activity of leading a group of people or an organization or the ability to do so. Leadership involves establishing a clear vision, sharing the vision with others so that they will willingly follow it, providing the information, knowledge and methods necessary to achieve the vision, and coordinating and balancing the conflicting interests of all members and the interested parties. On the other hand, a leader is a person who influences a group of people in order to achieve certain goals. According to Oliver (2006), a leader is an individual who has the ability to demonstrate a specific set of role behaviors in order to influence the behaviors and attitudes of others. There are three factors or keys needed to achieve a goal, namely the person, the people and the purpose. Figure 1 below shows the relationship between the three factors needed to achieve the goal. The leader in its meaning is the one who goes first and sets an example and then the other will follow him after being motivated. The above diagram can be explained as; with the three combinations, the person or leader will influence other people or the follower to achieve the goal or objective. To achieve the goal, the leader must have a deeply rooted commitment to the goal that he or she will strive to achieve even if no one follows (Wong, 2007). The follower can also influence the leader to achieve the goal. “A leader steps up in times of crisis and is able to think and act creatively in difficult situations” (Business Dictionary.com). Unlike management, leadership cannot be… at the heart of the paper… healthcare system stakeholders. There are wide ranges of stakeholders with different backgrounds in the healthcare sector. However, the main stakeholders are the patients. It is important for healthcare workers to treat the patient. Therefore, it is important to provide the best services to the patients as the main interest of the healthcare organization is to provide healthcare services to the community. Conclusion The purpose of leadership in healthcare is to work with each other to improve or change the situation in the best way. condition. The challenges facing healthcare workers require strong leadership as the situation is variable and inconsistent. Healthcare is about people taking care of each other, so healthcare providers must align with a single goal, so that patients receive a high level of service with professionalism.
