Women Representing Martial Arts In today's society, men are considered the authority in martial arts. Women can be just as skilled and successful in martial arts as men. Many women are equally respected and are making great contributions to today's martial arts society. Many martial arts competitions have changed their policies and allow women to participate in professional fighting organizations, such as the Ultimate Fighter Championship (UFC), and in the main events of many martial arts tournaments. Today, the education of women is just as challenging as that of their male counterparts. In my experience with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I was trained just as hard, if not harder, by my professor than many male students. When I prepare for a competition I am as dedicated and motivated as any other male competitor. All martial artists call it "away from life" and I completely agree. With the right amount of dedication and mindset, women can develop their skills and be technically equivalent to any male practitioner. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a combat sport focused on grappling and ground fighting. In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a smaller person is able to defend themselves against a larger, stronger attacker. It focuses on the use of leverage, technique, balance and control of the opponent. These techniques are practical because they allow a smaller, weaker person to have a better chance of defending themselves against a larger opponent. In jiu jitsu and submission wrestling,… middle of paper… Amanda never gave up on trying to join the men's wrestling team, I never let the men in my academy bring me down; I pushed myself and got stronger each time. Opposing opinions. I think that women who want to dedicate themselves to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu should not feel intimidated by men. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is for everyone. Referring to my thesis, with the right amount of dedication and mindset, women can develop their skills and be technically equivalent to any male professional. I absolutely agree with this, I have mentioned many respected women in the art field, including myself, who have proven themselves. There are no exceptions to this statement. Today, beneath the lipstick and makeup hides the alter ego of a sporty warrior kimono equally capable of conquering the world. I think I supported him in many ways.
