In this modern business world that uses a multitude of technologies, from powerful computers to portable smartphones, one company has managed to secure its position. Google is now a household name in many parts of the world. The success that Google has enjoyed over the past decade has not been the result of pure luck. Rather, it was a well-organized corporate effort that incorporated sound business principles of planning, organizing, leading and controlling, and timely quality products. In many respects Google is a reference company in terms of technology, innovation, globalization, diversity and ethics. Google is a great model of a modern technology company that produces the software tools and toys the world wants. Technology and Innovation Since its inception in 1996, Google has always been at the forefront of technology and innovation. The founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, collaborated on an idea that would amaze their colleagues and the world (Google timeline, 2010, figure 2). Larry and Sergey found themselves facing internal and external forces that would push and inhibit the invention of Google. Their plan was to develop a search engine that their fellow college students could access for information. They were able to organize their thoughts and pool their talents to begin formatting and formulating the search engine. One of the external forces that very quickly became a problem was that Google had exceeded the bandwidth it was using and had to find more space. Larry and Sergey began hiring the staff that would propel Google into the history books. They hired people with technological skills and innovative ideas to bring Google into a market they could only imagine at the time. In May 2000, Google published...... half of the document......, 2011). Like any entrepreneur, they strive to make their products and their organization the best it can be. Instead of resorting, once again, to dishonest practices, they kept their moral compass intact and expanded globally by hiring top talent. These employees now constantly monitor the web through the use of Googlebot, ensuring that accurate and relevant information is delivered quickly, every time. In short, when it comes to controlling and adapting to change, Google is way ahead of the curve. Today the main component of the business is the search engine, although Google has added new innovations such as Google Earth, Universal Search, Realtime Search and Android. By staying informed and making prudent decisions, Google leaders will be able to maintain the quality of their products and ensure their popularity for years to come.
