Theodore RooseveltTheodore Roosevelt was our 26th president and the youngest in history. A man who could never sit still, always working to make America great. “He saw him as a man who had a strong sense of moral worth and considerable intellectual capacity” (Grant, p.637). TR was a native of upstate New York and was the creator of the “Bull Moose Party” or Progressive Republican Party. He achieved many things with the “Square Agreement” and the creation of the Panama Canal. Roosevelt helped Americans regulate railroad rates and settle the anthracite coal strike in 1902. Roosevelt was a man who did everything he did with “steadfast resolution.” Roosevelt says, “Perhaps there is no more important component of character than firm resolution.” Personal courage means facing fear, danger, or adversity. TR showed personal courage when he resolved the conflict in Venezuela with Cipriano Castro's refusal to pay foreign debts to European countries.
