Topic > Hitler's Quest for Aryans - 1957

Imagine being pushed off a dirty old train and having no idea where you were headed. Everyone on the train is in incredible shock and you don't hear much except the terrifying screams and cries of those around you. No one has access to food or water. Believe it or not, this is what you would have experienced if you lived in Germany, Poland or Hungary some seventy years ago. Nearly six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was much more than a cruel and belittling era; it was an atrocity beyond measure. On September 11, 2001, three thousand people were killed in a terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City. This doesn't even compare to the Holocaust, in which six million Jews were murdered. The word “Holocaust” has multiple meanings. In early times it meant a burnt offering to the gods (Downing 4). The citizens of the Middle Ages called it a huge sacrifice or destruction (4). Between June 1941 and March 1945, approximately four thousand Jews were murdered every day (4). There is no way anyone could understand how bad it must have been. Death, around the camps, expressed itself in many ways; they starved, froze or worked themselves to death, gassed in death chambers or even shot for no reason whatsoever. With the death rate rising, finding a place to bury everyone was becoming a staggering challenge. With Hitler's desire for living space, his goal of world domination and World War II as cover, Hitler and his Nazi regime were able to carry out one of the greatest crimes in human history with approximately three million and half of Jews murdered in extermination camps. All Hitler wanted was to eliminate defective genetic diseases, which could ultimately endanger his desire for the Aryan race throughout the world. ...... in the center of the paper ...... at the top was a sign that said "Arbeit Machttrei" or work will set you free. This was a trick used by prisoners to make them believe they were going to a real labor camp. The camp was surrounded by a barbed wire fence and had nine guard towers. I spent the first days at the camp in quarantine. They were given meaningless tasks and given very little food. The sleeping conditions were truly terrible. Some even considered the camp “a living hell” (Downing 31). The Holocaust was by far one of the worst events in history. So many people were killed for no reason. Hitler's goal was not only to kill all Jews, but also to create a worldwide race of blond-haired, blue-eyed Aryans. There will never be enough terrifying words to describe the physical and mental pain each prisoner endured. You think you could have survived the Holocaust??
