The Southern states began to rebel against the North to maintain and spread slavery throughout the country. The United States decided that changes were needed; it was a time when a person was not treated and humiliated by another person nor was he recognized as a “slave”. The North was ready to accept these changes, but the South had a different story, as they needed a lot of labor for their plantation properties and were even eager to forget about moral development. The Civil War left a large scar in the memory of American citizens because it became a fight against racial discrimination that still exists throughout the world (History of the American Civil War). The reasons for the civil war are very debatable and conflicting on the one hand, it has not just become a war between two countries, but a war against two different groups within the same country. The South had planting properties as well as wealthy classes made up of descendants of fine English families. The cotton, rice, sugar, and tobacco plantations in the South had African Americans as slaves who had no rights. The Civil War valued equality for every person and the right of every citizen to have their rights protected. The African American population was free in the North but not in the South, at the time of Abraham Lincoln's plan to stop slavery in the country, the South was very
