High school fishing may be enjoyed as an extracurricular activity, boats are not required to participate in the fishing, however, a rod and reel is recommended and a fishing license is required fishing. Students who have chosen to participate in high school fishing can take several trips to nearby streams and lakes to compete with each other in an old-fashioned fishing tournament. These trips to the location are similar to how other clubs travel to nearby competitions throughout the year. The program would be run by both a director and an assistant director to ensure broad supervision and guidance. Tournaments would be hosted within 15 miles of the high school to reduce travel expenses and promote familiarity with the area.
