Quite often, guidance counselors turn to SROs for help solving a problem, even if it is not a criminal matter. Students usually need someone to talk to about problems they are experiencing, and an SRO can act as another caring adult in a school setting who wants to achieve positive outcomes for students or youth in general (School Safety Net, 2004). Additionally, school can come with a lot of peer pressure and not to mention the experiences students face while they are not in school.
