3.5.1 Primary Data Primary data refers to data observed or collected directly from first-hand experience. Primary data was collected for this research. Use the questionnaire to collect data from the respondents to carry out a research study on the factors influencing the purchase intention of luxury fashion among Generation Y in KLCC and Pavilion Mall Kuala Lumpur. The questionnaires will be distributed to 200 target respondents in KLCC and Pavilion Mall. Respondents are required to answer all 35 questions indicated in the questionnaires. Initially, it took approximately 1 week, 5 hours per day from Monday to Thursday to conduct the survey. The survey was conducted every day from 9.00 to 14.00. The investigations were carried out starting from December 2013.3.5.2 Secondary dataThe analysis of secondary data can literally be called ―second-hand‖ analysis. It refers to the analysis of information collected by someone else (e.g., researchers and institutions) or for some other purpose, or often a combination of the two (Cnossen & Christine, 1997). Secondary data can be classified into two sources, namely electronic sources and paper sources. In this research, he focused more on electronic sources for secondary data research. These sources are the Internet and the University of Putra Malaysia Library online database. These sources are used to search for relevant articles and ejournals. In addition to this, the researchers also referred several reference books in the UPM library. By performing all the above steps, researchers are able to understand the theoretical concept in depth. By using secondary data researchers will gain numerous benefits. Secondary data is efficient because… halfway through the article… study, multiple regression analyzes were conducted. Conclusion In this chapter, we have discussed the formulation of the research design through several successive steps that need to be followed towards acquiring answers to a wide variety of research questions. Each phase must be clearly formulated to have a good research design and therefore produce useful data to analyse. Overall, this chapter discusses a research design process that applied a systematic approach to data collection to ensure that you have useful data, your findings can be understood, and your procedures can be performed by others in the future. Research design consists of data collection procedures and involves various techniques that must be followed. Therefore, a proper research design will ultimately determine the success of further research findings in the chapter 4.
