This new way of communicating with customers could help lost customers find the products they need and even offer special offers for walking down the right aisles. The idea is to install Bluetooth beacons in the retail store that could transmit signals to customers' phones as they walk through the store with the Target app open. The signals would appear on users' phones as coupons or reminders about a certain sale being offered. Customers could even call an employee to come and assist them without having to drive around looking for an employee who isn't busy with someone else. Target wants to be careful not to annoy its customers, so for initial tests it's keeping the alerts to just two per shopping trip. This could really benefit customers who would be on their phones checking prices and looking for better deals. Target could implement a system where a user can check the price of an item against other stores, and if they find a better deal, they could get a price match when purchasing the item from the Target store
