Patient Placement Officers need to learn what doctors like, charge nurses, and what home supervisors like and want on what types of plans. You can't just put a medical-surgical patient on a medical-surgical floor just because it is a medical-surgical floor. The people doing patient positioning need to understand how difficult the patient is and go from there, you may need to go to a floor that accepts medical-surgical and telemetry patients. They have to remember which floors doctors like, some doctors have problems with some nurses so they have to remember that and not place their patients on those floors. I think so much of these people for what they need to know and remember. The people who place patients are a calm breed, they must have a temper that does not explode. They cannot flail in chaos, they must flourish in chaos. They always have to support each other and help each other, otherwise it would never work.
