The first argument or point people raise is about the First Amendment: free speech. Free speech is the right to communicate opinions or ideas without government interference. With the use of technology, people have no problem expressing their opinions. Even if they are right, they can't seem to look past the protection provided by the First Amendment. Censorship is necessary to protect vulnerable individuals from seeing information that could be potentially harmful to them. Some individuals, such as children, are very sensitive to the influence of what they hear and see during their childhood. Lyons sees his results as evidence that humans are hardwired to learn by imitation, even when this is clearly not the best way to learn. If he's right, this represents a major evolutionary change from our ape ancestors. Other primates are terrible at imitation.
